At TSE Systems, it is our explicit aim to bring together industry and science in a mutually beneficial way. We are therefore honored and grateful to be included in a number of EU projects. Past projects were RATstream™ and PhenoScale, our current projects are the IntelliDog Trainer and the INSPIRE Project. In these projects TSE Systems was chosen as an SME project partner due to its particular expertise in providing highly customized, automated modular analysis systems.
In the field of Safety Pharmacology scientist make sure, that drugs are tested for unwanted side effects to provide safety, before these drugs enter clinical trials with humans. Often, these side effects affect the cardiovascular system and blood circulation. The INSPIRE project strives to optimize the processes and methods of testing for these side effects.
TSE Systems is the initiator and project leader. We will extend the functionality of our Stellar Telemetry System with the additional possibility to track animals, wherever they are, since the data scientists want is data from animals in stress free, group housed living conditions, optimally with the possibility, to track natural behavior in social groups parallel to their cardiovascular data.
Next to other teams in the consortium tackling assessment of new technologies for cardiovascular safety, and the in vitro and in silico sides of the INSPIRE project our “in vitro team” consists of:
TSE Systems: Hardware (Germany)
Notocord/Instem: Software (France)
Boehringer Ingelheim: Large animal testing (dogs) (Biberach, Germany)
Max Planck Institute, Munich & Weizmann Institute: Small animal testing (rodents) (Rehovot, Israel)

"European project on developing an automated training system for working dogs to detect explosives in order to increase accuracy, standardization and througput".
TSE Systems developed a solution to improve and revolutionize the status quo of training explosive detection (working) dogs worldwide. The existing conjunction of global security threats and the shortcomings of regular training practices highlights the increasing need for well-trained explosive detection dogs. With the launch of the IntelliDog Trainer, TSE Systems will insert a technology component to automate and at the same time lessen the human factor in the interaction between the dog and the instructor. The result is increasing the training output in terms of number of dogs, dramatically shorten the training time while optimizing and standardizing the training processes and thus supporting security agencies in their pursuit to minimize the threat of attacks with explosive substances.

"Large-scale, high-throughput automated systems for phenotyping mouse models of human disease – PhenoScale"
TSE Systems is the official technology partner in the European Union PhenoScale Project. The goal of the PhenoScale project is to automate phenotyping in large-scale manner using standard protocols or SOPs, such as those contained in the European Mouse Phenotyping Resource of Standardized Screens (EMPReSS) with the aim of adding economies of scale, enhancing automated data capture and increasing throughput.
Objectives of the PhenoScale Project

"European project on the characterization of transgenic rat models for neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases: Automated home cage analyses, live imaging and treatment".
Within this first European project on automated phenotyping the RATstream™ consortium focuses on high-throughput phenotype characterization of rats, in order to identify animal models of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases such as Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease or Spinocerebellar ataxia type 17. As the main technological partner within RATstream™ TSE Systems successfully developed the TSE PhenoMaster for rats which already lead to first scientific publications.
